About Us

My name is Sue, owner and founder of Ripple Designs.

I’m very much a ‘people person.’ A creative spirit. Friends and family mean the world to me and making others feel special is at the heart of what I do.

After being made redundant in June 2016, I spent a few weeks relaxing (of course), waiting for the job market in my field to pick back up again.

But during this time, I realised that after working for a great family-owned company for over 14 years, I didn’t want to become just a number in a large corporation again.

So, I made the life-changing decision to sell my home in Melbourne and relocate to South Gippsland to live and find work. I’m originally from Korumburra, so the idea of moving back to the local area had been on my mind for a while.

Finally, the time was right.

But amongst the chaos of finalising a few little things and putting my house on the market, I went back and did some temp work for a few months.

It was during this time that I made another discovery: I just can’t sit at a computer all day staring at a screen. I didn’t want to work for someone else anymore, either. So, I made the crazy decision and plunged into the idea of buying my own business.

During this time, one thing stuck with me.

My beautiful friend in Scotland and her Mum’s constant struggle on their visits to Australia to find quirky, different and – above all else – Australian made, gifts to take home with them for friends and family.

So, an idea was born. My kiln was fired up and the creative juices began to flow.

From Pocket Hugs to my other handcrafted glass and fabric creations, I hope you’ll enjoy exploring the treasure trove that is Ripple Designs.
